but this is going be a nuisance.Īlso when I want to change colors hue saturation posteffect (layeroptions -> add posteffect -> adjust -> hue saturation) often does the job for me quite nicely. You could double/triple all frames to get halves/thirds etc. If the give animation does not have a steady fps rate you could try matching up the animation in hexels timeline by adding cells and double/triple/. Then fill the palette with the colors you want and try out what the map to palette posteffect (layeroptions -> add posteffect -> adjust -> map to palette) gives you. Gif animation could be done with a steady fps rate or the animation frames can have different time lengths.įor the steady fps files there should be no problem when you know the original fps, just set the fps to the same in the hexels animation options. Well it sort of depends on the gif you are trying to work with. Am I doing something wrong? Or should I just be looking for a different program to use for animated gif editing? If the latter, do you have any suggestions? This is all becoming a lot of work, for just a color change.

Only to find out the original gif's animation speed wasn't preserved and exported. Regardless, I attempted to do this for every frame, then many hours later I tried to export the gif to see how it was turning out. This meant I had to use the magic wand and ctrl+f to manually change colors, which was awful and slow because I couldn't limit the area the magic wand would select due to similar/same colors being elsewhere in the image, yet some of the areas weren't continuous, so I had to go back and do a lot of touch up work. The first issue, is I couldn't find a way to easily replace colors with another. it showed all the different frames, so I assumed this would work. So I fired it up for the first time and opened the gif.

Then I remembered I was gifted Marmoset Hexels some time back, for gamedev related art. Skipping info you probably don't care about, I was looking for a program to edit the colors in an animated gif with.
